VOLUNTEER FOCUS OF THE MONTH: KRISTEN S.
YYour AIS Office can only function with the help of our wonderful volunteers. So, each month, we highlight one amazing volunteer by having them answer three questions. This month is even more special as the volunteer schedules the volunteers! Thank you for your service, Kristen!
1) What do you enjoy most about volunteering?
I really enjoy connecting with our members. We are here to answer phone calls and help embers when they come into the office. We have an opportunity to make a difference.
2) What is your favorite piece of conference-approved literature?
“Courage to Change” is the best! I love the daily readers. They are short and sweet and small enough to fit in my purse. I can pull one out and read it whenever I need a message. The daily messages can help shift my perspective and change the rest of my day.
3) What experience, strength, and hope would you share with a newcomer?
Before Al-Anon, I didn’t know how much I was affected by the disease of alcoholism. I would allow any situation to ruin my day. Now I know I can ask my Higher Power to help me start my day over and I can do that as many times as I need.
