Dear Al-Anon Friends,
Thank you to those who joined us in person at the San Diego County AIS office for our annual Birthday Celebration. It was wonderful to see so many Al-Anon members in person. We thank everyone who supported this annual fundraising event with generous donations!
We’ve received a few questions about meeting conduct recently. In keeping with Al-Anon’s Traditions and Concepts, it is up to each group to determine the best meeting format for their group. Electronic meetings have unique challenges and the WSO is working with the GRs of electronic groups to determine the way forward. I encourage all meetings to have a GR and an ISR. These positions can provide support and information as a group considers options and solutions for various situations. Whether in an in-person or electronic group, knowledge-based decision-making (KBDM) is always helpful in business meeting discussions. You can find group and meeting resources and guidelines in the 2022-2025 Al-Anon/Alateen Service Manual on the WSO website: https://al-anon.org/or by visiting https://www.alanonsandiego.org/. Service is the heart of Al-Anon/Alateen, and we appreciate hearing from you.
I am grateful to all my fellow board members, the dedicated volunteers who support our events and office, the staff who keep our local office functioning smoothly, and all our San Diego Al-Anon and Alateen members.
Thank you for the opportunity to be of service!
Cindi H., Board Chair
