Message From Your Board

ATTENTION

Information Service Representatives (ISRs) and ALL other Al-Anon members

Please read this announcement to your Group for several Meetings. We need your help!

Our Al-Anon Fellowship needs Your Support and Participation.

Remember our book When I Got Busy, I Got Better (P-78)? My secret weapon in recovery is doing service. Twelfth-step work helps me build my self-esteem, confidence, and trust. I have met amazing Al-Anon members while serving on the Board these past two years. You now have this opportunity.

Al-Anon is comprised of Service. Our program exists only because of the thousands of members like Lois who have served others. The 7th Tradition is not just a matter of contributing money each week; it also includes doing Service. Without Service, we’d have no Fellowship. Because no meeting occurs without it, Service is a cornerstone of the beautiful Al-Anon program from which we’ve received so much. Whenever I attend a meeting or contact an Al-Anon member, I benefit from a long and continuous line of Service that extends back to Lois.

Nominations are now being accepted from Al-Anon members willing to serve on our San Diego Intergroup Service Board, which manages the activities and affairs of the San Diego Al-Anon Family Groups (AFG) office, which is also our Literature Distribution Center (LDC). The only requirements are:

• Al-Anon member for two (2) years

• No dual membership in AA and Al-Anon

• Two (2) year commitment

Ten positions need to be filled for our 2025 Service Board. Position descriptions and the nomination form (in English and Spanish) are under Resources on our website, www.alanonsandiego.org.

Please nominate yourself, your sponsor, your sponsee, or someone you admire from your home group. All nominations are due by Wednesday, October 9. Please send them to Dan B., Historian & Nominations Chair, at [email protected], or they can be mailed to our Al-Anon office. Please email or call Dan B. with any questions.

Thank you for being of service!

Dan B., Historian & Nominations Chair

Vice-Chair Report / Non-Event Fundraiser

The 2024 Non-Event Fundraiser will begin Saturday, September 7, and run through Sunday, November 3, 2023. This is the third main fundraising effort for the year, and these contributions are needed to support the San Diego AIS Office in continuing to serve the San Diego Al-Anon Family Groups.

“We contribute in gratitude for what we have received from Al-Anon," and all Al-Anon contributions are tax deductible.

Please see the attached *FLYER* for the four different ways to contribute.

Thank you!

Grateful to be of Service,

Trenta

Vice-Chair
